Condition is Used.United Wilson Porcelain Factory of Hong Kong porcelain Monteith shapedbowlDescriptionof fluted form, printed and over painted in colours with a busy harbour scenewith figures, the interior with carp, raised upon a cast metal base and animallug handles, printed markDateCirca 1980HeightDepth Diameter10.5inches 13inches 15inchesInsurance Value0Extra NotesThe United Wilson Porcelain Factory manufactures porcelain and pottery in the antique style in Hong Kong. The marks they use are clever reproductions/fakes of originalantique marks. The lion and unicorn is a mark used on Staffordshire pottery and by some American factories, but your bowl is copying an 18th century Chinese porcelainbowl which would originally have had bronze mounts, whereas these are likely to be brass. This shape is often known as a Monteith, (used for rinsing drinking glasses) and would be an unusual (although not unknown) shape for Chinese porcelain.Value is decorative only, and whilst much of this factories output realises quite modest prices, but this is an impressive and decorative piece which should sell well, but sadly for much less than your mother paid, which was far too much in 1982.More photos will be posted
